CSports Sports & Activities

The Recreation Ministry at Christ United Methodist Church has year round co-ed sports programs for children with some of our sports for those as young as 4 and some for those up to 9th grade.

Our sports are back to back! When we begin our first game in one sport we usually begin taking registration for the next sport and so on. We are a Developmental League which has certain rules that demand that our focus is not on winning games. Our program is designed to teach sports in a safe way in which each child is given an opportunity to learn skills, increase their knowledge of the game, gain self confidence and enjoy being part of a team. Each coach is required to focus attention on all players.

We are a Developmental League which has certain rules that demand that our focus is not on winning games. Our program is designed to teach sports in a safe way in which each child is given an opportunity to learn skills, increase their knowledge of the game, gain self-confidence and enjoy being part of a team. Each coach is required to focus attention on all players. Our sports are back to back so when we begin our first game in one sport, within a few weeks, we are usually taking registrations for the next sport and so on.

Our CSports leagues are divided up by grade leagues, based on birthdates using the Mobile County Public School Age Requirements. A child who is able to enter Kindergarten according to the MCPSS age requirements must be age 5 by September 1st of the current school year. A first grader will be age 6 by September 1st and so on. Each of our registration forms will have a chart for you to follow. CSports will place them in the grade level league based on the MCPSS age requirements and not the grade they have been promoted or held back to. If there are special needs, those are handled by the CSports Coordinator on a case by case basis, after the sport's evaluation scores have been completed.

Because all of our sports have required evaluations and teams are formed by equally balancing the scores from those evaluations, special requests for teammates and/or for carpooling are not accepted. Each age league has the same practice days - Kindergarten teams practice on the same day, all 1st/2nd grade league practice on the same day, etc., so carpooling requests are not accepted. If there are special needs, those are handled by the CSports Coordinator on a case by case basis, after the sport's evaluation scores have been completed. For those of you who are volunteering to coach, your child will automatically be placed on your team.

Registrations for all of our regular season sports will be available online at the start of registration date as well as in person at the rec desk. Registrations forms and parent information packets will also be available to print from our website. Schedules for picture day and games will be available for each sport in advance of the dates. Registrations for our summer camps will not be available online and will only be available in person at the rec desk. You can also print the forms from our website to turn in at the rec desk. We accept cash, checks and credit cards.

Most all of your questions specific to each sport can be answered by reading our parent information packet. This packet of information will inform you of when to come to evaluations, the exact date the sport begins, any additional equipment you will need to provide, picture date, celebration date, a calendar of the entire season and much, much more. If you register in person, you will receive one. If you register online, you will need to print one from our website. Of course, if there is anything you cannot find in the parent info, feel free to contact us any time.

Our CSports athletic programs put hundreds of players & coaches on the field or court each week. This program is built by the hard work of many people who are volunteering their time. Coaches, assistant coaches, team parents, referees and other volunteers are what make this league possible. Coaches and leaders provide spiritual enrichment through weekly devotions and relationship building. Many children and parents have acknowledged accepting Jesus Christ as their personal Savior during these sports seasons. All of these volunteers work hard to insure that all of the children who participate will experience God's love, peace and understanding.
